Master Degree Project
The Master Degree Project has two parts: (1) a short fiction film of 10 minutes or a moving image presentation of 10 minutes exploring an agreed area of research; (2) a supporting paper of 5 000 words consisting of a production file and a reflective essay.
- Method of the diploma film presentation:
- Local exam: The students present their work themselves in the presence of one independent national member of the Content Quality Committee and two mentor professors.
- Common distant exam: A three day exam with parallel screening of the diploma films and an oral evaluation in the presence of all course directors and the members and president of the Content Quality Committee.
- Method of defending the thesis supporting paper (production file and reflective essay): following the submission of the reflective essays to “Turnitin” on IADT’s “Blackboard” to test for plagiarism, the two final documents are evaluated and scored jointly by one theoretical professor from each of the partner universities.
The degree-awarding ceremony will be at the “The Galway Film Fleadh”, Ireland’s leading industry-focused film festival. This is the first step of the professional introduction of the students where they can present their “visual” business cards straight to the profession in the form of their diploma films.
